If you want your self-pubbing to have professional panache – you need a press release! And it needs to have an interesting HOOK!

A hook is exactly what it sounds like – something that will catch an editor or reporter’s eye. It could be controversial or trendy or something funny or ironic. (like the epic: “Man bites Dog” headline.)

It must be clear. This press release is about a book release. They have to be informed of that, quite plainly, in the subheading.

It must include links to photos they are allowed to use: your own headshot, the book cover and other, if applicable.

It must be in Press Release format. I haven’t written a press release in a long time, so even I had to Google it to remember how a professional PR is laid out.

Here’s mine – it’ll go on the wire on June 1st and hopefully get some pickup, and spur print book purchasing!

If You Could Get a Vaccine for Writer’s Block – Would You Do It?

Discover the Science Behind the Answer in
Write without the Fight—Master Your Creative Process
to Write with More Ease and Satisfaction

— New from Author Julia Robers, MSc

June 1, 2022, Los Angeles, CA — Can writer’s block be predicted and prevented? Is there a vaccine for such a widespread condition? These are among the questions author Julia Roberts addresses in her new self-help book, Write Without the Fight – Master Your Creative Process to Write with More Ease and Satisfaction, available as an ebook, May 10, 2022, and in trade paperback, June 1, 2022.

Books, position papers, personal essays, memoirs, jokes, songs, stories, grant applications and more would be freed from their frozen state, blocked inside a writer’s mind, and released onto paper and into the world. How much impact such a cure could have is unknown and immeasurable. “Imagine unblocking and sharing all the ideas the world needs to face our most pressing problems,” Roberts writes.

The new trade paperback from author Julia Roberts, MSc, Write Without the Fight – Master Your Creative Process to Write with More Ease and Satisfaction, is available on June 1, 2022 from Amazon or order via your local bookstore. (Paperback ISBN: 979-8-9861423-0-2, Print on Demand, Ingram Spark.)

This informative and insightful book cites decades of scientific research and literature to present the best-known “vaccine” against writer’s block. With creative self-knowledge and process training, a writer can inoculate themselves against procrastination, dread, doubt, and delay.

Roberts herself suffered from writer’s block for years, without realizing it. Her form of the dread condition was not the most common “blank page” variety. Instead, she had too many ideas – a condition too often left undiagnosed and even considered a good thing. Left unchecked, too many ideas can metastasize into never finishing anything.

“I was saddled with my creativity and everybody’s expectations. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t take my ideas – plentiful as they were – and my writing skills, honed on Madison Avenue, and write the books I felt called to write. It was a painful burden. I felt helpless,” Roberts says.

In the hopes that there had to be help for her condition somewhere, Roberts sought her Masters in Creativity at Buffalo State College, in Buffalo, NY (2014). Since then, she has worked to bring the knowledge and power of the surprising science behind creativity to her clients and the thousands of writers in her email lists and private Facebook group, Write Without the Fight. Write Without the Fight, Master Your Creative Process to Write with More Ease and Satisfaction, includes a foreword by Joel Madison, Peabody Award Winner, Member WGA, SAG and the Television Academy. Says Madison, “You’re about to learn something about yourself that will make you a better writer.”
