Most of us are happy to see this tumultuous and unprecendented year in the rear view mirror. We are looking forward to 2021 – when we can hope for our turn for the vaccine, a return to normal, see our families again, fly places, eat in a restaurant.

Happy New Year!

Man, we earned it!

I, for one, will miss 2020. It gets a really bad rap. But what did it do to you to deserve its reputation? Okay, Okay, I know you’re sputtering out a lo-o-o-ong list of transgressions, right now. Pandemic, wildfires, protests and police brutality, the election from hell, and some 335,000+ deaths in our country.

But, if you stop to think, your 2020 might have had some silver linings. What can you celebrate from this year? This exercise in positivity is very important. It gives you a little minute to reframe all the fear, loss, outrage and hardship. My list of Silver Linings is here. Go see it if you want, but more importantly, find your own list of positives from a widely negative year!

Set a timer for 7 minutes and permit yourself to find your happy moments, gains, excitement and ease that graced your 2020. My list is here.

What are you doing this year – with your writing? In 2021, we won’t have this unprecedented horror show of a year as an excuse. What might you accomplish? How do we turn the page, expect better? Do better? 2020 can’t last forever. Time to put that behind us, and feel the hope.

Happy New Year. I hope this day finds you healthy, surrounded by love, and hopeful. Come find us in the Write Without the Fight FB Group, where we’ll be celebrating turning a corner on a tough year, and looking forward to a year that promises hope and change.
